{summer in the city}

Ben & Jerry's Red Velvet Cake ice cream
It was 91 degrees in Oakland today. Or as some call it...'the sunny side of the Bay..'

Red Velvet Cake ice cream from Ben & Jerry's was right on time. Described as Red Velvet Cake batter ice cream with Red Velvet Cake pieces & a cream cheese frosting swirl, it got me thinking...wouldn't it be great if we could eat all our food in ice cream form? Naturally Red Velvet cake reminded me of Sylvia's the Queen of Soul Food in Harlem. Can you imagine a soul food ice cream dinner comprised of a chicken and waffle ice cream cone? Turns out...somebody did!

Coolhaus located in Culver City near Los Angeles has a virtual ice cream dinner already on their menu. Start with a scoop of their Fried Chicken & Waffles: Brown butter maple ice cream with maple candied chicken skins and carmelized waffles. Add another scoop on top of Sweet Potato Marshmallow: Maple sweet potatoes with a marshmallow swirl. And finish off with their own Red Velvet: a cream cheese base ice cream with hunks of Red Velvet cake swirled throughout. Now if they only made a frozen scoop of Sweet Tea, this ice cream dinner would be complete. www.eatcoolhaus.com
